Trend Thursday - Fall Bold Lips

Hey you wonderful glamazons you!! It's Thursday and that means we're going to dig into those trends that we've been seeing all over the internet and magazines. Since fall's just getting underway, I want to impart a more reasonable way to rock the most popular trend we saw on the runway.

I think this trend has normal people scared. That dark bold lip that was everywhere on the runway and although it looks gorgeous, walking around with it is not only uncomfortable, but can require so much more work! I pushed myself to branch out and picked up Revlon's Black Cherry #477 and pulled out my Nars Volga Matte lipstick that I think I bought for a costume a year or two ago to try and jump full steam into the trend (I'm told I don't know how to pace myself, whattya gonna do?), but again...it's not something I feel comfortable to wear everyday.

So, what's there to do about? One trick is to layer a darker lip liner under a more sheer "normal" color in the same color family, I like to do this when I want a more matte lip. Alternatively, if you are all about the gloss or balm stain, picking one of them up in a more berry shade can give you a more sheer berry color. My favorite way to tone down this look, is actually the cheapest as well!! I use my dark lipsticks and instead of applying it straight from the tube, I use my fingers to blot it on my lips. The color pay off is halved and it shows up more of as more of a stain. Then I just throw some lip balm over it and voila! Perfect berry lips!

If you have any questions about today's trend or would like me discuss any other trends please let me know!!!
