Makeup Mondays!!

Happy Monday Glamazons! So, as most people who know me know, I have been a Nars Cosmetics girl for years. I have modeled for them and own a hefty amount of the line. I don't know what in my brain has told me that high end makeup is the end all to be all, but readers, for me that illusion lasted for a very very long time. I'm not going to lie, when I think quality and beautiful makeup I think certain brands (ie. Nars, YSL, Chanel, Cleu de Peu, etc) and so striking out into other lines has been EXCREDIBLY difficult!! But, this girl is on a budget these days and I have recently become obsessed with beauty guru's who encourage drugstore products and lower higher end products, so I decided to give it a go!

Enter some new palettes into my life.

The first one I picked up from the recommendation of the first beauty guru I really got into her blog name is Maskcara. It's the Stila "In the Light" palette, and it is absolutely beautiful!!
Stila "In the Light" Palette $39 at Sephora.com
I wasn't one to branch out color wise, and the neutral's in this palette are lovely on every skin tone. It definitely rivals the Naked palettes and is $11 cheaper, so you know, I didn't hesitate at getting it. Also, the smudge-proof/waterproof brown eyeliner that comes with it actually stays!! I have a terrible time with eyeliner pencils, they smudge like crazy because I wear contacts and this one definitely doesn't do that! It stays in the waterline beautifully and I never have trouble with it. Did I also mention the pigmentation is great? Yea...it makes my brain hurt how much I love it. After getting this palette I didn't even touch my Nars eyeshadow palettes *GASP* I hope they didn't hear that! Lol

I used the palette on my friend Julia for wedding we went to and I think it just makes the eyes and skin glow. So of course, I'm obsessed with it!

After I got comfortable with that palette I decided to branch out even further!!! Those beauty guru's really know how to talk a girl into things let me tell you! Plus, I wanted to experiment with some deeper colors for the fall..so in sashay's the Lorac "Pro Palette"
Lorac "Pro Palette" $42 at Sephora.com

So this palette I think is really unique, it has 8 shimmery shades and 8 completely matte shades. Like everyone and their mama has said, the shadows are buttery and seriously pigmented. To make me even happier, I had a gift certificate so I only actually paid $22 for it...so it makes me like it even better. The color's I'm absolutely obsessed with in this palette are the Garnet which is an amazing red shimmer and pewter which is a mauve shimmer. They definitely embody everything fall and look wonderful. I will say though that I enjoy the gold's in the Stila palette better then the one's in here, so I guess it's good I picked up both palettes!

Lorac "Pro Palette" look
I just used the Lorac palette in this recent look that I did which was based on a sunrise I saw on Sunday! I used the garnet, pewter, and touches of the lt. bronze and sable.

So my overall thoughts?

If you are looking to pick up some palettes that have wonderful neutrals and buttery, high quality shadows, either one of these palettes is a good choice. They both are really blendable and easy to use for even the most beginning level of makeup users. The palette's compliment every skin tone and eye color, they are compact, and the two together round out all seasons and looks. If you are into lots of colors or following trends and were going to choose between the two I think the Pro palette is for you, but if you are into glowing neutrals then skip that and pick up the Stila one!!

What do you guys think? Do you have a holy grail palette? Any recommendations?

Hugs! ~Devin
