Is it already Monday? My god, time just goes by so fast...ANYWAYS Hey beautiful glamazons!!!! Did you have a good weekend? Don't worry I did too, I bet you were really really worried lol. Okay so this Makeup Monday is all about the beauty trend show I went to on Saturday!
The Trend show was hosted by Nordstrom's of Tacoma and titled "The Wake Up Pretty Party" I got to go with my beautiful friend (and bride to be!!!!!) Nicole and her mom Joyce. We were the first one's there, because girls, you know how I feel about being late to anything...and we got the FRONT ROW like the bosses we are. I was just imagining myself at a NYFW show, front row, I have a wild imagination, I know.
Okay, let's get into the nitty gritty, so I've been to the Nordstrom Trend Show in downtown Seattle at the flagship store, tons and tons of times. So, I'm not going to lie, that's what I was expecting here. I was waiting to see models with the different trends and people really describing how they got each specific "trend look". That wasn't the case. What we got were different clips of each trend projected on a screen in front of us, they hit on the Bordeaux Lip, Graphic Eye, and Redefined Smoky Eye. I know that we are there for them to sell us product, but these clips really hit it home. They didn't even explain how they got the looks or the colors they used!!! It was just to sell each brands new lines that had just hit the stores, needless to say I was less then impressed. I did take a couple notes...but most of the stuff dear readers we've already talked about or has been blasted in the beauty world since August!
Don't Worry There Is a Silver Lining
So I had made my makeover appointment with M A C after the show was over, but when I got down there they were too busy to take me so I got to go get it done by the CHANEL counter. AAAHHH Chanel!!!! This was the best and worst thing for me ever. Best because I have been dying, yes dying, to try their foundation. Worst, because as we know, they fall in the department store makeup price spectrum at the very farthest most expensive side.
The wonderful part is the woman who did my makeup, Tia is her name, was fabulous. She didn't try to sell me ANYTHING which was so great, especially as this was my first time really trying Chanel cosmetics, (we know I have an addiction for their perfume hahaha aahhh yikes), and later on she made me the biggest samples of their foundation and tan du soleil to take home and really play with it. She's wonderful, if you ever get a chance to catch her at one of the nordy's in this area, do it she will crack you up!

So here's my opinion of what was tried (unfortunately I didn't get any photos of her doing my makeup). I really enjoyed the products, like, a lot!! I did notice a couple hours later that my eyeshadow was creased and that my foundation was shiny, so that bummed me out. But when I went to use the foundation again and did all my crazy priming and setting techniques, it wore beautifully, she didn't use a primer on my face when she did so I feel like that may have been the cause. The foundation she used on me was the Perfection Lumiere and you guys, it's definitely a build-able medium coverage, and it is really weightless. It blended in beautifully, I can't rave about it enough. I'm not entirely sure if I will purchase it just yet, I still want to try the YSL Youth Liberator Serum foundation that came out and the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk foundation which has been out for a bit and everyone just RAVES about.
There was a very very stand out product/products for me from the face she did. It was the lip products. I've never had a lipstick and gloss wear so well. It lasted through several cups of tea and eating. The colors were to die for (it doesn't look like it so much on the face chart). The combo she used was their
LÈVRES SCINTILLANTES GLOSSIMER in Constellation #108, LE CRAYON LÈVRES PRECISION LIP DEFINER in Aveline, and NUIT INFINIE DE CHANEL ROUGE ALLURE LUMINOUS INTENSE LIP COLOUR in Indecise #125. Basically a $90 lip combo, yea...I kind of love it so much but that's pretty ridiculous for such beautiful beautiful natural-looking luscious lips...*sigh*
The full face after I got home and remembered to take a picture, love those lip products! |
After the Chanel play time I did run over to the M A C counter and back to M A C'd some old eyeshadow pots for wait for it....one of the new RETRO MATTE lipsticks (did you know you could get those?! I literally died) I did pick up one of the older colors, the iconic Ruby Woo, but I just couldn't help myself, the matte lip is my favorite and I think they color is beautiful on everyone. I also picked up a new Nightmoth lip liner, here's why. The two together are gorgeous! You wouldn't think so but the darker lip liner creates gives the perfect amount of depth and has that striking ombre effect.
Ruby Woo + Nightmoth from M A C = gorgeous ombre lip (don't mind my kitchen in the background) |
My overall impressions of the show, which I found out was their first, were okay, I think that with anything new, there are always kinks...and I hope they kind of work it all out, especially since it's a little closer to where I reside (that 8am start time is a killer) but I will give it another chance later down the line. I am going to the flagship show two weekends from now on the 26th, so you will probably get a better review of the two shows after that.
Alright, that's all for me today!! Let me know if you want to see a more indepth review on the Chanel foundation and look for some new looks and products next week!! (I'm doing a wedding this weekend!) Have a beautiful day glammies!!!
XO
